ZFP was awarded the first prize in the design competition for King Khaled University, located in Valley Faraa, Abha City. The university spans a site area of approximately 8,000,000 m2, with a built-up area of 3,000,000 m2. It includes 42 facilities, such as administrative, educational, sports, residential, and service buildings. Among these are 19 college buildings for both boys and girls, as well as a university hospital.The design emphasizes nature preservation and landscape utilization, creating a harmonious academic environment that enhances students’ emotional, intellectual, and creative growth, setting it apart from conventional universities. The buildings are distinguished by the use of various types of marble. Given the sloped terrain, the design incorporates measures to protect the site from stormwater and falling rocks. Additionally, the university’s architecture ensures natural light penetrates and spreads throughout the buildings, fostering a bright and inviting atmosphere.
